A&A Fire and Safety Partners with KATV Channel 7 to Promote Fire Prevention Month:
October is National Fire Prevention Month, and at A&A Fire and Safety, we believe fire safety starts with education and preparation. Last week, our team had the opportunity to join KATV Channel 7 for an interview and live fire extinguisher demonstration to help raise awareness about fire prevention and the importance of knowing how to respond in an emergency.
During the interview, our team demonstrated how to properly operate a portable fire extinguisher and discussed important fire safety tips that everyone should know. While fire extinguishers are commonly found in businesses, schools, and homes, many people have never actually used one. Understanding how they work before an emergency occurs can make a significant difference.
Knowing How to Use a Fire Extinguisher:
One of the key messages we shared during the demonstration was the importance of being familiar with the PASS method, a simple way to remember how to operate a fire extinguisher:
P – Pull the pin.
A – Aim the nozzle at the base of the fire.
S – Squeeze the handle to release the extinguishing agent.
S – Sweep the nozzle from side to side at the base of the flames.
Fire extinguishers should only be used on small, contained fires when it is safe to do so, a clear escape route is available, and emergency services have been notified. If a fire begins spreading or conditions become unsafe, evacuating immediately should always be the priority.
Fire Prevention Is a Year-Round Responsibility:
Although October provides a special opportunity to highlight fire safety, prevention and preparedness should remain priorities throughout the year. At A&A Fire and Safety, we work with businesses and organizations across Arkansas to help protect lives and property through the installation, inspection, maintenance, and service of fire protection systems. From fire sprinklers and fire alarms to portable fire extinguishers, kitchen suppression systems, and emergency lighting, our goal is to help ensure that fire protection equipment is ready when it matters most.
Thank You, KATV Channel 7!
We appreciate KATV Channel 7 for inviting our team to share this important information with viewers across Central Arkansas. Opportunities like this allow us to do more than demonstrate equipment. They help us educate our community and encourage everyone to take fire safety seriously.
