Behind Every Fire Sprinkler System Is a Thoughtful Design Process: 

When most people see a fire sprinkler system, they see the finished product — sprinkler heads in the ceiling designed to activate during an emergency. What many do not see is the amount of planning, coordination, and technical design work that takes place long before installation ever begins.

 

Recently, A&A Fire & Safety Company had the opportunity to be featured as industry experts on All Access with Andy Garcia. During the interview, our Responsible Managing Employee (RME) and Fire Sprinkler Designer, Austin White, discussed the important role that proper fire sprinkler system design plays in protecting lives, businesses, and properties.

 

Fire sprinkler systems are not one-size-fits-all. Every building presents different challenges, occupancy classifications, hazards, layouts, and code requirements. Before a single pipe is installed, our team works through a detailed design process to ensure the system will function properly and meet applicable fire codes and standards.

 

That process often includes:

— Coordinating with contractors, engineers, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs)

— Preparing detailed submittals and hydraulic calculations

— Designing systems to meet NFPA standards and local code requirements

— Planning for long-term inspection, testing, and maintenance accessibility
